How we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

This Privacy Policy describes how Trovo ("Trovo," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information about you when you use trovohome.com (the "Site"), our matching service, and related services (collectively, the "Services").
The short version. We collect the information you give us when you submit a project or create an account, and we share it with the contractor we match you to. We don't sell your data. We use a small number of trusted service providers (listed below) to run the platform. You can request access, correction, or deletion of your data any time at

1. Who we are
Trovo is a contractor matching service operated from Boston, Massachusetts. We connect homeowners with vetted local contractors. We do not perform construction, payment processing, or insurance services ourselves.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us directly
- Account information. Name, email address, phone number, and password (stored hashed; we never see it in plain text).
- Project information. Project type, neighborhood, photos you upload, project description, preferred timing, and budget.
- Booking information. Preferred site visit date and time, address (when you provide it), and any notes you add.
- Communications. Messages you send through the platform to your contractor, our support assistant, or our team; messages you send to us by email or phone.
Information we collect automatically
- Usage data. Pages viewed, links clicked, approximate timestamps, and basic device information (browser type, operating system).
- Cookies and local storage. We use essential cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
Information from others
- Contractors. Once matched, contractors may share notes about your project (e.g., quote details, completion status) which become part of your project record.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Match you with a vetted contractor and coordinate the site visit.
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Services.
- Send you service-related messages (account confirmations, appointment reminders, project status updates).
- Respond to your support requests.
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Use.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We send marketing emails (home improvement tips, cost guides, Trovo news) only if you have opted in. You can opt out any time from your portal Settings or via the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
4. How we share your information
We share your information only in these limited cases:
- With the contractor we match you to. Your name, contact information, project details, and address are shared with the matched contractor so they can contact you and visit the site. We never share your contact info with multiple contractors at once.
- With our service providers. We use a small set of vendors to run the platform: Supabase (database and authentication), Render (notifications and backend services), Netlify (web hosting), and Anthropic (AI-powered support assistant). These providers process data on our behalf under written agreements that restrict their use of your information.
- For legal reasons. If we are required by law, subpoena, or court order; or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
- In a corporate transaction. If Trovo is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or data brokers, and we never will.
5. How long we keep your information
We keep account and project information for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable retention period for tax, legal, and business records (typically up to 7 years). You can request earlier deletion at any time — see Section 7.
6. How we protect your information
We use industry-standard practices to safeguard your data:
- All connections to the Site are encrypted with HTTPS / TLS.
- Data at rest is stored in Supabase's encrypted Postgres infrastructure.
- Authentication uses Supabase Auth with hashed passwords.
- Access to production data is limited to a small number of authorized team members.

No system is perfectly secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact hello@trovohome.com immediately.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information (you can also do this directly from your portal Settings).
- Delete your account and personal information (subject to legal retention requirements).
- Object to or restrict certain uses of your information.
- Receive a copy of your information in a portable format.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@trovohome.com from the address on file. We will respond within 30 days.
California residents: Under the CCPA/CPRA, you have additional rights including the right to know what information we have collected about you and to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" (Trovo does not sell or share for cross-context behavioral advertising).
EU/UK residents: Under the GDPR/UK GDPR, our legal basis for processing is performance of the contract you enter when using the Services, your consent (for marketing), and our legitimate interest in operating and improving the platform.
8. Children
The Services are intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact hello@trovohome.com and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or via a prominent notice on the Site at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
