Trovo started with a frustrating renovation and a simple question: why is the only way to find a trusted contractor through a friend who happens to know one?
A few years ago, we went through a full home renovation in Somerville. We did everything you're supposed to do — got multiple quotes, checked reviews, asked around. It still took months to find someone we actually trusted. One contractor ghosted after the site visit. Another quoted double what the job was worth. A third started strong and disappeared halfway through.
The only thing that worked was a personal referral from a neighbor who had actually used the contractor, watched them work, and could say without hesitation: call this person. That referral is what most homeowners never get. You only have access to it if you happen to know the right person. We built Trovo to be that referral, for everyone, every time, backed by real vetting and real accountability.
Trovo is our attempt to build that at scale. We personally vet every contractor on our roster — meeting them, verifying their credentials, and calling their past customers ourselves. Then when a homeowner comes to us with a project, we make one match. Not a list. Not a marketplace. A recommendation we stand behind.
We started in Greater Boston because it's a city of old homes, dense neighborhoods, and homeowners who care deeply about who they let through their door. We know this market. We know which contractors work which neighborhoods, who specializes in Victorian triples versus modern condos, who's honest about what a job will cost and who isn't.
We're not trying to be Angi. We're trying to be the neighbor everyone wishes they had.

We're deliberate, local, and deeply invested in getting this right. Every contractor on our roster has been in-person interviewed. Every match we make is one we'd recommend to our own families. If you're a homeowner tired of the guessing game, or a contractor who takes their reputation seriously — we'd love to hear from you.
Tell us about your project and we'll handle the rest.
